Last Wednesday we had the opportunity to showcase our Going Street Commons project to a great group of kids, parents and teachers from the Venn Academy School in SE Portland. The kids were interested in Zero Energy homes and the impact buildings have on our climate. Althoguh it was arguably the wettest and muddiest day of the year, the kids were champs and had a lot of really great questions for us. We really enjoyed being able to educate kids at such a young age about architecture and building and the outsized impact our industry has on climate change. The kids loved the experience of being in a building with the heat off on a cold day and discovering that just their body heat made the home super comfortable- with no heating system up and running! We loved having Venn Academy out to the site, thanks Venn!
